Business Writing – the benefits of an old fashioned approach
08/02/2011

Content has never been more important or prolific. No, this is not the ego fuelled ramblings of a copywriter! It is a fact that there has never been greater access to written content – whether online or in traditional offline media. There has also never been a greater sense of purpose to content. With all those opportunities to tag key words, drive traffic and SEO performance, content has become an important component in brand development.

So amongst all the noise, how do you get your message heard?

One thought this week is to think about the old fashioned business of letter writing. Do you recall how exciting it was to receive a letter? Not a bill, or a piece of direct mail, but an actual letter, that referred to you by your name and said something meaningful to you, of interest and value.

In terms of business writing, letters can provide a welcome antidote to the non stop spam and bland blanket communications that so many organisations adopt. It also enables you to follow up effectively, tailoring your business development activities in a coordinated, manageable way. If resources and time are tight this could be an ideal solution for businesses large and small.
